Skierfe

Skierfe is a table-topped mountain that ends in a vertical face over the Rapadalen valley in Sarek, and the view from the edge is the one that appears on every cover of Swedish mountain writing: the Rapaatno spreading across the flat valley floor in dozens of pale braided channels through green delta land, with peaks on both sides. The drop is around seven hundred metres straight down. The route up is from Aktse on the Kungsleden, about four kilometres of steady climb on a marked path, not technical but long. Sarek itself has no trails, huts or bridges; Skierfe is on its edge and reachable from the trail system.

When to go

July to September. A full day from Aktse.

Honest expectations

Getting to Aktse is itself a multi-day walk or a boat and hike. The climb is steady and long. The edge is unfenced with a sheer drop. Cloud can remove the view entirely.
