Huseby Bruk

Huseby made iron from the seventeenth century, using bog ore and the fall on the Helige river, and the works, the mill, the forge and the water wheels are still in place. Florence Stephens inherited in 1934 and ran the estate until a group of advisers stripped it of assets through the 1950s in what became a well-known Swedish scandal and court case; she stayed on until her death in 1979 and the estate passed to the state. The manor is shown with her furnishings, so the rooms are a 1930s to 1970s household rather than a period reconstruction. There is a farm, a garden, craft workshops and a large park.
