Magdalenefjorden

Magdalenefjorden earned its reputation with geometry: alpine peaks rise straight from the water in tight ranks, glaciers pour between them to calving fronts, and the fjord's sheltered anchorage - used by seventeenth-century whalers whose graves still mark the Gravneset headland - frames the composition that made this the classic image of wild Svalbard.
