Rogla Treetop Walk

The Pohorje treetop walk climbs from the forest floor on a gently graded wooden ramp about a kilometre long, rising through the spruce until it spirals up a tower some thirty-seven metres high with the plateau spread out below. The gradient is shallow enough for pushchairs and wheelchairs the whole way. A tube slide runs down through the middle of the tower for anyone who does not want to walk back, and the walkway stays open through the winter.

What you actually see

• The spiral tower - a wooden tower of about thirty-seven metres at the end of the walk.
• The graded ramp - a kilometre of shallow ramp accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs.
• The canopy level - the walk rising through spruce from the floor to above the tops.
• The tube slide - a slide down the inside of the tower as an alternative descent.

When to go

Year round; winter with snow on the spruce is striking and the walk stays open. Summer weekends are busiest. Fog on the plateau is common and closes the view.

Honest expectations

Fog on Pohorje is frequent and can leave nothing to see from the tower. The walk closes in high wind and thunderstorms. It sits beside a ski resort and the surroundings are developed rather than wild.
