Upper Peirce Reservoir Park

Upper Peirce was created in 1975 by damming above the older Lower Peirce, and it sits deep inside the central catchment reached by one road that winds several kilometres through forest with nothing on either side. The park at the end is small: lawns, shelters, a view over the water and forest running to the horizon in every direction. There is no public transport to it, which is exactly why it is quiet.

What you actually see

• The access road - several kilometres winding through unbroken catchment forest.
• The reservoir view - water with forest on every side and no development visible.
• The lawns - a small open area with shelters at the end of the road.
• The seclusion - a place on Singapore island with nothing else in sight.

When to go

Year round; early morning and late afternoon are coolest. The road closes at night. Afternoon storms are frequent.

Honest expectations

There is no public transport and no walking access; a car or taxi is the only way. Facilities are minimal. There is little to do beyond look at the water.
