Seychelles Tea Factory

Tea has been grown on the slopes of Morne Blanc above the Sans Soucis road since the 1960s, and the factory beside the plantation processes the leaf into black tea, some of it blended with vanilla, citrus and cinnamon. Visits take in the withering, rolling and drying floors when production is running, followed by a tasting. The site is at around 450 metres with a view down the western slope of Mahé to the sea.

When to go

Year round; production runs on weekday mornings and that is when there is most to see. Afternoons and weekends the machinery is idle. It closes some days.

Honest expectations

Production runs on weekday mornings only and outside that the tour is thin. The site is small and an hour covers it. The road across the island is steep and winding.
