The Beausejour ground at Gros Islet was built in 2002 and renamed in 2016 for Daren Sammy, who was born a few kilometres away and captained the West Indies to the T20 World Cup in 2012 and again in 2016, the only man to lift that trophy twice. It is a compact ground with hills behind it and the sea not far away, and it has hosted tests, one-day internationals and the Caribbean Premier League, whose Saint Lucia franchise plays here to full houses. Below the international game, village cricket is played on grounds across the island most weekends of the season.

When to go
The domestic season runs roughly January to July. Caribbean Premier League matches are in the summer and are the liveliest fixtures. International tickets are announced well ahead. Village grounds are free to walk up to.
Honest expectations
International fixtures are infrequent and tickets for the popular ones sell out. The CPL is as much a party as a cricket match, with music between overs, which some find intrusive. West Indies cricket has been in a long decline and crowds at tests are thin. Village grounds have no facilities.
