The Eco-Park at Sir Gilles was built with Taiwanese assistance as an agricultural demonstration and horticultural site, laid out with greenhouses, orchards, a cactus and succulent section, water features and beds of ornamentals across a large area in the island's north. Part of it is a working trial ground for crops and part is public garden. The setting on the northern slope gives a long view. A restaurant and shop operate on the site and are the only facilities for some distance.

When to go
December to April is the dry season and the most comfortable for walking. Planting is at its fullest after the autumn rains. Midday sun is strong with limited shade.
Honest expectations
It is a demonstration site rather than a mature botanical garden and parts feel unfinished. Maintenance varies across the grounds. It is a long drive from Basseterre for what it is.
