Playa Buyé

Buyé is a short crescent of pale sand on the Cabo Rojo coast with clear shallow water, reef offshore that keeps it calm, and a line of sea grape and palms right behind the beach giving shade, which is rarer on this coast than it should be. It is a family beach used mostly by Puerto Ricans rather than visitors, busy at weekends and quiet during the week.

When to go

December to April is the drier season. Weekends and holidays are crowded with local families. Weekdays are much quieter.

Good to know

Parking is limited and charged at some access points, and it fills early at weekends. Facilities are basic. The beach is small and a few groups make it feel full.

Boquerón is south, and Playa Sucia is further south at the cape.
