Jastrzebia Gora Cliffs

Jastrzebia Gora sits on a moraine cliff of up to about thirty metres on the open Baltic coast, and Rozewie a short distance east is the northernmost point of mainland Poland - or near enough, since the precise northernmost spot is the Rozewie headland and the distinction between the two headlands is a matter of survey. A concrete monument, the Star of the North, was put up to mark the point, and the honest detail is that the cliff has been eroding beneath it: the coast here retreats and the monument and the paths have been affected, with reinforcement work carried out. The resort is a small one with hotels along the clifftop, a beach below reached by stairs, and a coastal path along the edge. Rozewie has a lighthouse of 1822 with a museum. It is exposed to the north, which makes it colder and windier than the bay side of the peninsula.

Honest expectations

The cliff edge is unstable and fenced in places for good reason. The coast is exposed and cold - noticeably more so than the bay side. Summer fills the resort. Beach access is by long flights of stairs.
