Salagdoong Beach

Salagdoong sits on Siquijor's eastern coast at the end of a road that runs through a plantation forest of mahogany and molave, arriving at two small coves of white sand separated by a rock headland. The water is clear and deep quickly, and the headland has been fitted with concrete platforms at roughly five and ten metres for jumping - which is what most people come for, and what has made the beach the island's busiest. There is a resort with rooms, a restaurant and cottages on the sand, so it is more developed than Siquijor's other beaches, and weekends bring local families in numbers. The forest drive in is a pleasant stretch in itself, tunnelled by planted trees. Anyone wanting a quiet swim will do better at Paliton or Kagusuan; anyone wanting the jump should check the water depth and the tide before going off the higher board.

When to go

December to May for calm, clear water. Weekdays are far quieter; weekends and holidays fill the coves.

Things to know

The jumps are genuinely high and the rock below is unforgiving - check depth and tide, and note there are no lifeguards. Entry and platform fees are separate. It is the most crowded beach on the island.
