Finca Drácula

Finca Drácula sits at around two thousand metres at Guadalupe above Cerro Punta and holds one of the larger orchid collections in the region, running to thousands of plants across many hundreds of species, including a substantial holding of the Dracula genus that gives the place its name, small dark flowers with faces that read as masks. Visits are guided through the greenhouses and the grounds, and the operation also propagates for conservation.

When to go

Year round; flowering varies by species so there is always something out. Guided tours run at set times. Mornings are clearest in the highlands.

Honest expectations

Visits are guided only and must be timed to the schedule. Not every species is in flower at any given time. The road up to Guadalupe is steep and narrow.
