The Mrtvica runs into the Morača through a canyon of its own, narrow and deep, and a path was cut into the rock wall along it in the early twentieth century so that the valley could be reached; it is now a walking route. The water is an intense green in the pools, a stone bridge called the Danilo bridge crosses the gorge, and above the trail is Kapija želja, the gate of wishes, a natural arch in the rock.

When to go
May to October is the walking season. The water is highest after snowmelt in spring. The trail is dangerous in ice and after heavy rain.
Honest expectations
The path has exposed sections above the drop with no barrier. It is muddy and slippery after rain. Swimming in the pools is very cold and unsupervised.
