Getting thereBelow Nadur on Gozo's northern coast; very steep path down from the parking
EntryFree

San Blas is a small bay of the same red-orange sand as Ramla, tucked below terraced orchards on Gozo's northern coast, and it stays quiet for one reason: the only way down is a very steep concrete path from the parking above, roughly ten minutes down and considerably longer back. A seasonal kiosk operates on the sand in summer and a jeep shuttle sometimes runs for those who cannot face the climb.

What you actually see

  • The red sand - the same orange-red beach material as at Ramla.
  • The steep descent - a very steep path that keeps numbers down.
  • The terraced orchards - citrus and fruit terraces on the slopes above the bay.
  • The quiet - the least crowded of the Gozitan sand beaches.

When to go

May to October for swimming. Even in August it is quieter than Ramla. Spring and autumn are very quiet with the kiosk closed.

Honest expectations

The path is genuinely steep and the climb back is hard in heat; it is not suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. Parking above is very limited. Facilities are seasonal and minimal.

Nearby

Ramla Bay is west, and Nadur is above.
