Sunway Lagoon

Sunway Lagoon occupies the site of a tin mine and quarry that was worked out and left as a flooded pit and rock faces, and the whole Bandar Sunway development around it - township, mall, hotel, university - was built on that rehabilitated ground from the late 1980s, which is the more interesting fact about it. The park is divided into six: the water park with wave pool and slides, an amusement park with rides, an extreme park with bungee and go-karts, a wildlife park, a scream park of horror attractions, and a nickelodeon-themed area. The quarry walls are still visible behind the attractions and one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the country crosses the site. It is the largest park of its kind in the Klang Valley and is busy on weekends and school holidays.

When to go

All year; weekdays outside school holidays for the shortest queues. A full day.

Honest expectations

Queues at weekends and holidays are long. Tickets are tiered and the full combination is expensive. Afternoon thunderstorms close the water rides. Bring sun protection.
