The lavender farm at St Brelade grows several varieties in fields on a slope, harvests them in June and July and distils the oil on site in a copper still, so that visitors during the cutting can watch the whole sequence from field to bottle. Herb gardens and a shop and café occupy the rest. Outside the flowering weeks the fields are green rather than purple, which is worth knowing before travelling for it.

What you actually see

  • The lavender fields - the varieties grown in rows on the slope.
  • The copper still - the distillation done on site during the harvest.
  • The herb gardens - the additional planting around the farm.
  • The harvest - cutting and stilling in June and July.

When to go

June and July are the flowering and harvest weeks and the only time the fields are purple. The farm opens from spring to autumn. It closes in winter.

Honest expectations

Outside June and July the fields are green and the main draw is absent. The farm closes entirely in winter. It is small and two hours covers it.

Nearby

Beauport Beach is south, and St Aubin is east.
