Scott's Cove

Scott's Cove is where the coast road crosses from Westmoreland into Saint Elizabeth, and a line of stalls has grown up at the parish line selling fried and escovitch fish with bammy, the cassava flatbread, along with shrimp and festival. Vendors come out to the cars as they slow, which is direct and can be overwhelming. It has been the standard stop on the south-coast drive for decades.

Year round; stalls run through the day and are busiest at lunchtime. Weekends bring the most traffic. Fish supply varies with the catch.

What to expect

Vendors crowd vehicles as they arrive and the approach is aggressive; this puts some visitors off entirely. Prices for visitors are often quoted high and should be agreed before the food is handed over. Facilities are basic.
