It is a place of deep religious and political sensitivity, so dress modestly, behave respectfully, and be aware that opening hours, access and atmosphere shift with the sabbaths and holy days of three faiths. It is intense, crowded and can be tense at times. Security is visible. Its history and sanctity, though, make it one of the most powerful places to visit anywhere.
