Laugarfell is a mountain hut on the highland edge west of Fljotsdalur, near the Karahnjukar road, with two hot pools built beside it fed by a natural spring. It sits at around 500 metres in open country between the Snaefell area and the Jokulsa valleys, so the surroundings are moss, rock and long views rather than anything dramatic close by, and the wild reindeer herds range across this ground in summer. Walking routes lead from the hut, including one to the waterfall at Faskrudarfoss. The hut takes guests in summer with beds and meals arranged in advance, and day visitors can use the pools.

Honest expectations
