Boutilliers Lookout
A ridge above Petion-Ville where the whole of Port-au-Prince and the bay lie out below you.

The road climbs steeply out of Pétion-Ville and comes out on a ridge at around a thousand metres, and from the pull-in at Boutilliers the capital is spread out underneath: the grid of the lower city, the port, the bay curving round to the Côte des Arcadins, and La Gonâve as a long shape on the water. It is cooler up here by several degrees. Craft sellers work the viewpoint, and the transmitter masts on the ridge are the landmark you steer by.

When to go
November to March gives the clearest air. Early morning and late afternoon are best; haze and cloud build over the city through the middle of the day. Sunset draws people up from Petion-Ville.
Practical notes
It is a roadside viewpoint, not a site: fifteen minutes covers it. Sellers at the stalls are persistent. The road up is steep and narrow with heavy traffic in places.
