The Îlet du Gosier lies a few hundred metres off the beach at Gosier, a low islet with a lighthouse on it, a strip of sand on the sheltered side and scrub over the rest. Boats shuttle across in a few minutes through the day, and the islet works as an easy escape from the hotel strip: swimming, snorkelling on the reef edge and a couple of seasonal beach shacks selling food and drink.

When to go
December to April is the driest and calmest. Weekends and holidays fill the small beach. Boats stop running in the late afternoon.
Honest expectations
The islet is very small and gets crowded. Shade is limited and the shacks are seasonal. Last boats leave earlier than people expect.
