Getting thereInside the Cap Cana development south of Punta Cana; road access with checkpoint
EntryFree access to the public section; clubs charged

Juanillo is a curve of very white sand at the southern end of the Cap Cana development, protected by reef so the water inside stays flat and pale turquoise, with palms planted along the back and beach clubs occupying much of the frontage. A public section remains at one end. The marina is a short distance away. It is the most photographed beach on this stretch of coast and it looks the way the photographs suggest.

What you actually see

  • The white sand - a bright crescent held between low points.
  • The reef-flat water - calm turquoise water inside the protecting reef.
  • The beach clubs - the loungers and restaurants along most of the frontage.
  • The marina - the harbour development a short distance north.

When to go

December to April is high season and driest. Hurricane season runs June to November. Weekdays are quieter than weekends.

Honest expectations

Most of the frontage is taken by beach clubs charging for access and loungers. Entry passes a development checkpoint. Prices inside Cap Cana are high.

Nearby

Hoyo Azul is nearby in Cap Cana, and Punta Cana is north.
