Chaudiere is a deep circular pool where a river has cut a basin into rock in the northeast, with smooth ledges around it at several heights that people jump from and a small fall coming in at the top. The name means cauldron, for the shape. A trail of around half an hour from Bense drops through forest and garden plots to reach it. The water is cold and clear and the pool is deep enough for the jumps.

When to go
December to April is drier and the trail is easier. Rain raises the river and makes jumping dangerous. Weekends bring local groups.
Honest expectations
Water depth changes with the river and jumping is dangerous when it drops. The trail is muddy and unmarked in places. There are no facilities at the pool.
