The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde displays five original Viking ships, deliberately sunk a thousand years ago to block the fjord, then raised and painstakingly conserved. Alongside them a working boatyard builds full-size replicas by traditional methods, and in summer visitors can sail a reconstructed Viking boat on the fjord.
