Salto del Mortino

The Mortino river falls around a hundred and eighty metres off the plateau edge into the Magdalena canyon, close to the Bordones fall and in the same landscape of coffee country cut by a deep gorge. What draws people specifically is the mirador: a glass-floored platform cantilevered out from the cliff so that visitors stand over the drop with the fall to one side and the canyon below, which is an addition of recent years and is what most photographs from here now show. Access is by a short walk from the road with an entry charge. Flow is stronger after rain and reduced in the dry months. The San Agustin archaeological sites, on the UNESCO list, are within half an hour and most visitors combine them.

Honest expectations

The platform is the attraction and it is small - the visit is short. Entry is charged. Flow drops in dry months. Vertigo is a real consideration on the glass floor.
