The Western Cordillera rises directly behind the town and the combination of that ridge, the flat Cauca valley floor and consistent sun produces thermals reliable enough that Roldanillo has hosted paragliding world cup events and draws pilots for long cross-country flights - distances of well over a hundred kilometres up the valley are flown from here in season. Launch sites are on the ridge above and landings on the valley floor. The other reason to stop is the Museo Rayo, founded in 1981 by Omar Rayo, a geometric abstract artist from the town who gave his work and collection to it; the building is by Leopoldo Rother and the collection covers Latin American printmaking and geometric abstraction, which is unexpected in a small agricultural town.

Flying conditions are seasonal and weather-dependent. Tandem operators vary - check certification. The town has limited accommodation and fills during competitions. The museum keeps limited hours.
