Fin del Mundo Waterfall

The trail climbs from the road outside Mocoa through rainforest for around four kilometres, crossing streams and passing smaller falls and pools, to a rock lip where a river drops roughly seventy metres off the edge into the valley below - the name comes from the sense at the top of the ground simply ending, with jungle stretching away towards the Amazon basin. Visitors stand at the lip; guides are now required and there are rules about where to go. The walk is muddy and steep and takes two to three hours each way. Mocoa sits where the Andes drop into the Amazon, which is why the biodiversity is high and the rainfall heavy. A landslide disaster struck the town in 2017.

Before you go

The edge at the top is unguarded and wet, and a fall would be fatal. The trail is steep, muddy and takes two to three hours each way. Guides are required. Rain can make it impassable.
