At the head of the Cajon del Maipo, past Banos Morales, hot water emerges on a slope at around 2,500 metres and has been channelled into a series of stone-walled pools stepping down the hillside, each cooler than the one above, looking out over the valley and the peaks around it. There is no building - the site is open ground with a camping area, run by the local community, and the facilities are correspondingly basic. The road in beyond Banos Morales is the filter: rough gravel with exposed sections, and it closes with snow for much of the year.

When to go
November to April; snow closes the road in winter. A full day or an overnight stay.
Honest expectations
The access road is genuinely rough and small cars struggle. Facilities are minimal - basic toilets, no hot showers, no shop. It gets busy at summer weekends. Altitude and strong sun both apply.
