Seven Mile Beach

Seven Mile Beach, curving gently along the western shore of Grand Cayman, is the crown jewel of the Cayman Islands and consistently ranked among the finest beaches in the Caribbean. A glorious stretch of powder-soft, coral-white sand, in fact closer to six miles than seven, meets calm, wonderfully clear turquoise water, sheltered and safe for swimming, with superb snorkelling on nearby reefs. Backed by a line of resorts, restaurants and condominiums, it manages to remain spotless, spacious and serene, and, being public along its length, is a place to swim, sunbathe, paddle, snorkel and watch the famous Caymanian sunsets in idyllic comfort.

When to go

December to April, the dry season, for the sunniest, driest weather, the peak season; the summer is hotter and more humid with a hurricane risk from June to November. The calm, clear water and soft sand make Seven Mile Beach superb for swimming and snorkelling year-round, and its west-facing shore offers spectacular sunsets.

Honest expectations

Seven Mile Beach is a developed, upscale beach lined with resorts and condos, so it is a polished, sometimes pricey destination rather than a wild or undiscovered one, and the Cayman Islands overall are among the more expensive in the Caribbean. But the beach itself genuinely lives up to its reputation, with its powder-soft sand, calm, crystal-clear turquoise water, spotless upkeep and public access along its length, making it one of the finest and most comfortable beaches in the region.
