Mangazina di Rei

Mangazina di Rei, the king's storehouse, stands on a rise above Rincon and is the second-oldest building on Bonaire, put up to hold the maize and supplies handed out to the enslaved and later the freed people who walked in from the salt pans to collect them. It is now a cultural park with the building restored, traditional gardens planted and a programme of music and craft demonstrations. The walk from the pans to collect rations was long and the building marks the end of it.

Opening days are limited and worth confirming before the drive. Outside event days the site is quiet and the visit is short. Shade is limited on the hill.
