East Point lighthouse stands at Ragged Point on the easternmost tip of Barbados, a red and white tower of 1875 on a clifftop where the Atlantic comes in with nothing between it and Africa. Cattle graze the grass around the base and the cliffs drop to a rocky shore below. It is one of four lighthouses built on the island in the same decade and the most exposed.

When to go
December to May is the dry season. Wind at the point is constant in any season. Sunrise here is the earliest on the island.
Honest expectations
The tower is closed and the visit is exterior only. The cliff edge is unfenced and undercut. There are no facilities and the site can be litter-strewn.
