Enterprise Beach, universally called Miami Beach, sits just east of Oistins on the south coast and is neatly divided by a small rocky headland: the western side is sheltered and calm enough for children, the eastern side catches the wind and the swell and has waves. There are casuarina trees for shade, a food van, and a car park, which by Barbadian standards is a full set of facilities. It is where local families go at weekends rather than a hotel beach, and it is a short walk from the Oistins fish fry, which makes a Friday evening combination that most visitors work out eventually.

What you actually see

  • The two halves - calm on one side of the headland, breezy on the other.
  • The casuarina shade - trees along the back of the sand.
  • The local crowd - Barbadian families rather than hotel guests.
  • Oistins nearby - the fish market and Friday night fry, a short walk west.

When to go

December to April is the dry season. Weekday mornings are quiet; weekends bring Barbadian families in numbers. Friday evening pairs naturally with the Oistins fish fry along the coast.

Honest expectations

It is small and fills at weekends, with the car park overflowing onto the road. The eastern side has current and is not for weak swimmers. Facilities are a food van and basic toilets. Sargassum has affected the south coast in recent years and can be heavy in spring and summer.

Nearby

Oistins is ten minutes west; Silver Sands is further east.
