Kabwelume Falls
A crescent of falls downstream of Lumangwe, reached on foot through the bush.

Kabwelume lies some six kilometres downstream of Lumangwe on the same river, dropping in a wide semicircle into a gorge lined with forest, at its fullest in April and May after the rains. It is harder to reach than Lumangwe, with a walk of an hour or so through the bush or a rough track that needs four-wheel drive, and it sees correspondingly fewer people.

When to go
April to July has the strongest flow. The path is overgrown and slippery in the wet season. Volume falls away by October.
Before you go
The path is unmarked and a guide from Lumangwe is worth taking. The rough track needs four-wheel drive and is impassable when wet. There are no facilities at the falls.
