Thuy Bieu lies on a bend of the Perfume River upstream of Hue and is a nha vuon village - houses set in gardens, in the Hue pattern - whose particular crop is thanh tra, a pomelo variety grown here for centuries and given protected geographical status in Vietnam; it is smaller and drier than ordinary pomelo and was sent to the Nguyen court. Several households open their garden houses for meals and stays, and the village is a standard cycling destination from Hue along the river road. The Ho Quyen arena and the Long Tho hill are on the same route.
