Lindqvist Beach

Lindqvist, also called Smith Bay Park, is a curve of white sand on the east end of St Thomas that was bought and protected rather than built on, so there is nothing behind it but sea grape and trees. The water is calm and clear, the beach is broad, and it has been used often enough as a film and advertising location that it looks familiar. Turtles nest on it in season. The territory bought the land in the 1990s specifically to stop it being developed, which on St Thomas is rare enough to be worth noting.

When to go

December to April is the dry season. Gate hours apply and the park closes on some days. Weekends bring local families.

Honest expectations

The gate closes and hours are limited, so timing matters. Facilities are minimal, with no restaurant. Turtle nesting season brings restrictions on parts of the sand.
