Khatt Springs

The springs at Khatt rise at the foot of the mountains at around forty degrees, carrying dissolved sulphur and minerals, and they have been used for bathing for a very long time; archaeological material nearby shows settlement around the water going back millennia. The water is now channelled into separate pools for men and women in a public bath complex, with a resort using the same source. Date gardens and a small heritage village stand around the springs.

When to go

November to March, when the warm water is most welcome; summer bathing in hot water in high heat is unpleasant. Mornings are quietest. Timings for the men's and women's sections differ and need checking.

Practical notes

The public bath complex is basic and dated. Sections have separate and sometimes limited hours for men and women. The sulphur smell is strong and puts some people off.
