The palace at Sharivka was rebuilt in the 1880s for Leopold Koenig, a sugar manufacturer, into a white neo-Gothic house with a tower, terraces and a conservatory, set in a landscape park of some forty hectares planted with exotic conifers and laid out with lakes and avenues. It served as a sanatorium for most of the twentieth century, which is why it survived, and it has been slowly transferred to museum use since.

When to go
April to October is the comfortable season, with autumn colour in the park the best of the year. Interior access is limited and varies. The park is open through the year.
Honest expectations
The interiors are largely empty and access is restricted; the visit is exterior and park. Restoration is slow and parts of the building are deteriorating. There are no facilities on site.
