Singha Park

Singha Park, formerly Boon Rawd Farm, is an agricultural estate of around eight thousand rai owned by the Boon Rawd brewing group, the makers of Singha beer, and opened to the public as a visitor attraction. What is on it is genuine farming - oolong tea terraces, which are the signature view, along with fruit orchards, vegetable fields, flower plantings and livestock including a herd of giraffes and zebras in a safari-style enclosure - arranged around a lake with a very large golden lion sculpture, the company's emblem, at the entrance. Visitors move around by tram, hired bicycle or car; there are zip lines, a farm restaurant, tea tasting and a rock-climbing wall. An annual balloon festival and a marathon are held here. It is a corporate estate rather than a park in the civic sense, well maintained and heavily branded, and the tea fields are genuinely attractive in the cool season.

What you actually see

• The tea terraces - oolong planted across the slopes, the estate's signature view.
• The golden lion - the brewery emblem at the entrance.
• The farm animals - giraffes and zebras in an enclosure alongside the crops.
• The activities - zip lines, cycling, tram tours and tea tasting.

When to go

November to February; the balloon festival falls in February. Half a day. Bicycles or the tram are needed - the estate is far too large to walk.

Honest expectations

Entry is free but everything within it is charged and adds up. It is a corporate brand estate, heavily marketed. The exotic animal enclosure is a farm attraction rather than a conservation facility. Too large to walk.
