Flumserberg

Flumserberg is a series of terraces on the southern side of the Walensee at between twelve hundred and fourteen hundred metres, facing north across the water to the wall of the Churfirsten - which is the view that defines it, since the seven peaks stand directly opposite with the lake between. It is a family ski area in winter and a walking and cycling area in summer. Its best-known summer feature is the Floomzer, a rail toboggan run that descends about five hundred metres of vertical over more than two and a half kilometres from Maschgenkamm, one of the longer such runs in Switzerland, with riders controlling their own brake. Cable cars link the terraces to the lake shore.

• The Floomzer - a rail toboggan dropping 500 metres over 2.5 kilometres.
• Terraces at 1,200-1,400 metres - the sunny southern side of the lake.
• A lake-to-mountain cable car - the link from Unterterzen on the shore.

Honest expectations

It is a family resort and busy at weekends and in holidays. The toboggan closes in rain and queues in summer. Lifts shut between seasons. The terraces are developed with apartments rather than a village.
