The Assman drops about thirty-six metres over a stretch of rapids and falls in a wooded ravine east of Halmstad, and the reserve around it holds old broadleaf and mixed forest with a good deal of dead wood and a rich lichen and fungus flora. The name comes from a story attached to the Danish wars, in which a party of soldiers was misled into the gorge and drowned - which is a folk tradition rather than a documented event. Flow is best in spring after the melt and after heavy rain, and drops considerably in a dry summer. Trails run along both banks with bridges, and there is a shelter and fireplace.

April to June for flow. Two hours.
Honest expectations
In a dry summer the falls are much reduced. Paths are steep and slippery near the water. There are no facilities beyond a car park and shelter. It needs a car.
