The Vinarium tower stands on the Lendava hills at the far eastern tip of Slovenia, a steel lattice rising about fifty-three metres with a viewing platform reached by lift or stairs. From the top the plain runs out flat in every direction and on a clear day Hungary, Croatia and Austria are all in sight along with Slovenia, which is the reason it was built. Below it Lendava is a bilingual Slovenian and Hungarian town with a castle, a synagogue and a chapel holding a mummified body.

When to go
April to October for the clearest views; winter haze often closes the distance. The tower closes in high wind. Sunset is popular and the small car park fills.
Honest expectations
The view is over flat farmland and is more a geography lesson than scenery. Haze frequently means the four countries are not distinguishable. The tower shuts without warning in wind.
