- Drink the tap water - among Europe's best
✗ Better avoided
- Confuse Slovenia with Slovakia - locals are patient about it, barely
- Swim in Lake Bled's roped-off zones - rules are enforced
- Expect nightlife scale - evenings here are dinners and strolls
- Skip the caves - Skocjan and Postojna are world-class
Worth knowing
- Tipping is rounding up or 10% for good service
- The country is small - Alps, coast and caves fit one week easily
- A vignette is needed for motorways if driving
- Cards widely accepted; mountain huts often cash-only
