Topoľčianky is three things on one estate. The chateau mixes a Renaissance range with a neoclassical wing added in the 1820s and served as the summer residence of Czechoslovak presidents. The national stud farm beside it breeds Lipizzaner, Arabian and Hutsul horses and is one of the European studs behind the Lipizzan breeding traditions recognised by UNESCO. And in the woods above is a fenced reserve holding a herd of European bison.

When to go
April to October is the main season for all three. The chateau closes on Mondays. The bison are most visible at feeding times in the colder months.
Honest expectations
The chateau, stud and bison reserve are separate visits with separate tickets and are spread apart. Stud tours must be arranged. The bison enclosure is large and the animals are often not visible.
