Cascade Langevin

The Cascade de Grand Galet, usually called Cascade Langevin, is at the head of the Langevin valley in the south of the island, inside the Réunion National Park, where water comes out of the rock in a broad fan of separate streams rather than a single fall, dropping into a large pool. The road up the valley from Saint-Joseph passes a series of smaller pools and basins used for swimming, with picnic spots and food stalls along the way.

When to go

May to November is the drier season. Flow is strongest after rain. Weekends and holidays fill the valley completely.

Before you go

The valley road is narrow and parking at the falls is inadequate on weekends. Swimming is unsupervised and the river rises quickly after rain. Litter along the popular pools is a problem.

Saint-Joseph is at the valley mouth, and Grande Anse is west.
