Eco Reserva Mbatovi

Mbatoví is a private reserve of around a hundred and fifty hectares in the hills near Paraguari, running a guided adventure circuit through forest: suspended walkways and rope bridges strung between the trees, several zipline spans crossing a valley, a rappel down a rock face and a walking trail through the woodland with a waterfall and viewpoints over the Paraguari hills. The whole thing is done as a guided group over two to three hours with equipment provided, and it must be booked in advance rather than turned up to. It is the most developed adventure operation of its kind in Paraguay and close enough to Asuncion for a day trip.

When to go

April to October in the cooler dry months; summer heat and humidity make the circuit hard work. Booking is required in advance and weekends fill. The circuit runs in light rain but not in storms.

Honest expectations

Booking in advance is compulsory and walk-ins are refused. The circuit is guided as a group with fixed timing rather than free access. Age and weight limits apply. Prices are high by local standards.
