Ullim Falls

On the mountain road toward the east coast, Ullim - 'echo' - earns its name in a green gorge: the falls drop some seventy-five metres in a white column whose thunder rebounds off the amphitheatre walls, mist drifting over viewing terraces and the pool below holding the cold that mountain water keeps. Pavilion steps frame the classic viewpoints, the summer months run the cascade at full voice, and the site serves as the scenic set-piece pause on itineraries crossing toward Wonsan - within the country's exclusive guided-travel frame, as everywhere.

History

The falls, outside Wŏnsan, were developed as a tourist destination from 1999, and a resort beside them was completed in 2001 (Wikipedia, Ullim Falls).
