Mirleft Beaches

Between Tiznit and Sidi Ifni the coast is a run of cliffs with beaches set into the gaps, and Mirleft is the village that serves them - a single street of cafes, small hotels and surf shops on the road above, with about a dozen beaches within a few kilometres north and south. Each has its own character and its own track down: Legzira with its sandstone arch, Aftas as the village beach with the surf school, Imin Tourga and Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah quieter and harder to reach. The Atlantic here is cold and the swell is consistent, which is why the surf crowd came and why the paragliding people came for the cliffs. Legzira had two natural arches until the larger collapsed in September 2016; the remaining one is smaller and is itself unstable, and walking under it is not advisable. The village is low-key and inexpensive by Moroccan coastal standards.

Honest expectations

The remaining Legzira arch is unstable after the 2016 collapse - do not stand under it. Atlantic currents here are strong and there are no lifeguards on most beaches. Tracks down are rough. Water is cold year round.
