Tamilyog Trail
An old stone-paved path crossing Yap from coast to coast through the interior.

The Tamilyog trail crosses Yap from the east coast to the west, an old stone-paved way that carried people and goods between villages long before roads, running through forest, taro patches and betel groves with sections of the original paving still in place. Walking it takes a few hours and passes through village land the whole way, so it is done with a guide and with permission.
What you actually see
- The stone paving - original sections of the old cross-island way.
- The village land - the settlements and gardens the path runs through.
- The taro and betel - the cultivation along the route.
- The coast-to-coast line - a path linking the two sides of the island.
When to go
December to April is the drier season. The path is muddy after rain in any month. Walks are arranged rather than scheduled.
Honest expectations
The trail crosses private village land and cannot be walked without permission and a guide. Much of the paving has gone and the route is muddy. Custom rules on behaviour apply throughout.
Nearby
Colonia is west, and Bechiyal is north.
