EntryGuide and custom fees

Mhaireth is a palm oasis in the Adrar not far from Atar, water coming out of the rock in a cleft with dates growing along it and cliffs on both sides, and it gets a fraction of the visitors Terjit does because the track in is worse and it has not been developed. The grove is worked by the families who own it. There are pools along the watercourse and rock walls closing overhead.

What you actually see

  • The palm grove - dates growing along the watercourse in the cleft.
  • The spring - water coming out of the rock to feed the oasis.
  • The pools - basins along the stream through the grove.
  • The quiet - an oasis with almost none of Terjit's visitors.

When to go

November to February is the cool season and the practical window. Summer heat in the Adrar is extreme. Rare rain can flood the watercourse.

Honest expectations

The track in is rough and needs four wheel drive and local knowledge. There are no facilities at all. The grove is private property and permission and fees are involved.

Nearby

Atar is nearby, and Terjit is south.
