Milntown was the seat of the Christian family for centuries and was rebuilt in Gothic revival style in the 1830s, and it came to the island by bequest with its contents and grounds intact. Fifteen acres of gardens run down to the Sulby river, with a walled garden, glasshouses and a water wheel. The last owner collected motorcycles and cars, and the collection is displayed in the outbuildings, which draws a separate set of visitors entirely.
